Alfa is one of Lebanon's two mobile operators, state-owned under the Ministry of Telecommunications and managed by Egyptian-based Orascom Telecom, with carrier code 415-01. It serves about one-third of Lebanon's mobile market but offers more service options than its competitor. Provides 2G (900MHz), 3G (2100MHz), and 4G LTE (1800MHz) services, with 4G/LTE coverage reaching 85% of the population by 2017. Due to severe Lebanese pound depreciation, Alfa bills in US dollars (USD), with recharge cards ranging from $3.64 to $68.18 (tax incl.). New prepaid SIMs are priced at $3 plus 10% tax under government regulation. USSD is mainly used for recharge (*14*14-digit-code#), balance enquiries (*111#), and credit transfers. SMS shortcode 1399 also supports postpaid-to-prepaid recharges. Note: Lebanon enforces IMEI whitelist registration since 2018, required for stays over 90 days.
